Who We Are

IMPORTANT NEWS

It is with great sadness that the trustees have taken the very difficult decision to close Newcastle Toy and Leisure Library in December this year.We would like to thank everybody who has been involved for their support over the last 41 years

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newcastle Toy and Leisure Library supports children with disabilities and is unique in Newcastle as it also supports the whole family.

The specialist toy and equipment loan service enables children with disabilities to access early years settings, out of school clubs, schools, play schemes, respite, play and leisure provision.

By providing an outreach toy loan and play service we provide support to parents and families of children. It is especially effective to those who have been newly-diagnosed with additional needs, to help them to come to terms with the diagnosis and to encourage them to develop their potential.

Professional workers can also lend the toys and equipment so they can make sure they get them to those who need them the most.

Our Aims

Our primary aim is to support children with special needs and their families.

We recognise that many children are deprived of some aspects of play and leisure which is so vital for their development. We provide a wide range of toys and equipment which can be borrowed by members.

At Newcastle Toy Library we try to offer a welcoming informal setting where children can have fun and families can meet in a friendly environment. In addition to our toy loan service we have a soft play room and a variety of clubs and activities, which offer a safe environment for active leisure.

We also provide a coffee/information area.

Our Vision

To provide quality assured play and leisure services, in a safe environment, for children and young people with special needs in Newcastle assisting and encouraging them to develop and achieve their potential.
